It is amazing how quickly the summer has passed. With the pandemic restrictions being lifted this spring, we saw the return of Slovenski Dan, Poletna Veselica, a well attended and much enjoyed Cottage Crawl, and of course, our sporting events.
Although our annual Vinska Trgatev (Thanksgiving) marks the end of the SSC season, planning for it starts mid summer. At that time, concerns around the 7th wave, along with what fall may bring, were all over the news. Some of those concerns are still with us today. Will there be an 8th wave in the fall as everyone returns to school, people head back to their offices, or move indoors as the cooler weather approaches? Everyone has a different outlook, but no one knows for sure.
For this reason, we decided to take a balanced approach to Thanksgiving at the SSC this year. After the final Mass of the season on October 9th, we will be having a hybrid “Vinska Trgatev”. Instead of our traditional sit down banquet style Thanksgiving dinner, we will be offering it as a pre-ordered takeout meal. This will enable us to accommodate everyone.
So, if you wish to enjoy your meal in the company of others, you can do so in the Hall or outside at a picnic table if weather permits. If you are the more cautious sort and have concerns about sitting inside with a large group of people, you can pick up your meal and enjoy it with your family and friends at your cottage.

The Thanksgiving dinner will be available by pre-order only. We ask that you place your orders with Marica early, so that she can plan and order the turkeys well in advance.
We hope that we will be able to return to our traditional Vinska Trgatev next year.
