• There's lots to do in and around the Slovenian Summer Camp
  • Balina
  • Swimming
  • Volleyball
  • Camping in a tent
  • Hike through the woods on the cleared path.  Bring a cold drink to enjoy on the bench at the end of the trail. The trail is also great for snowshoeing in the winter.
  • Participate in the sing-along on the sports deck on a warm summer evening.
  • Take a long 5 kms hike or short bike ride to Palgrave along a safe, gravel trail and have an ice cream at the half way point of your journey (you have to go back!).
  • Hike to Tottenham (5 kms) to enjoy a late lunch on an outdoor patio. (China Garden does not give a good first impression but the food's reasonably good.  It's take-out only.  Expect to have to wait.  10% off if you pay cash on orders over $20!  Also, it's only open after 4:00 pm.)
  • Take a ride on the steam train that goes from Tottenham to Beeton and back.  See
  • Sit around a campfire and tell lies, ahem, stories.
  • Have a birthday party for the kids with a scavenger hunt or an orienteering challenge.  On a hot day, include a swimming race or a running race in the pool shallow end.  Of course, no one should ever run on the deck of the swimming pool.
  • Visit in the early spring or late fall to see the rafter of turkeys (about 50 of them, usually).  Where do they go in the summer?
  • Have a family Bar BQ.  It's a great place to bring the family together.
  • Look for fireflies down by the swamp in the evening after dusk.
  • On a clear night, the star gazing is an amazing experience because there's very little "light pollution".  A great spot is over near the sports deck because there are no tree obstructions.
  • With wireless internet available, have a contest with the kids to identify tree species.
  • In the spring, look for Trillium flowers in the woods.  No flower picking!
  • Look for a four leaf clover for good luck.  There are lots of clover patches.
